When is investigation defence needed?
When you have been asked to attend, when you learn a complaint exists, or when your devices, accounts or documents are requested.
The investigation stage sets the shape of the case. Decisions about what is produced and said here are hard to reverse.
What does investigation defence involve?
We review what the authority is investigating, advise on questioning and on any documents requested, and attend with you.
We also look for gaps and for evidence that points away from you, and we raise them early.
What should you avoid?
Do not discuss the case with the complainant, delete messages, or contact witnesses.
These steps can look like interference and may create a separate problem.
What should I do first?
Find out which authority has the file
Police station, prosecution office, or both.
Preserve your messages and records
Do not delete anything, even if it seems unhelpful.
List possible witnesses
Names and what each person saw or knows.
Prepare for the interview with us
We go through the likely questions before you attend.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to answer every question?
Advice depends on the question and your position. We prepare you before questioning so that you know what you are being asked and why.
Can an investigation be closed without a trial?
Yes. The authority may decide not to proceed, and good preparation can influence that. We explain the possibilities at the first meeting.
