Who can lift a travel ban?

The authority that holds the file. The Public Prosecution can order provisional release at any time before the case goes to court, on its own initiative or at your request (Article 108(2) of the Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2022 (Criminal Procedures Law)). Once the case is in court, the court decides (Article 113).

A travel ban can be a bail condition under Article 109(1), and the Prosecutor may change, replace or overturn a bail condition (Article 109(2)).

What does an application need?

A written request stating why the ban should be lifted and what guarantees you offer. Typical points are your residence and work in the UAE, family, a surety, a fixed address, a plan to attend every hearing and the reason for travel.

Article 110 allows bail to be paid by you or a third party, or covered by a solvent person's undertaking, which gives the authority comfort without keeping you in the country.

Does the ban end by itself?

Not necessarily. A travel ban remains until lifted or until the case ends. A closed case, a dismissal under Article 118 or an acquittal under Article 212 normally ends the basis for it, but you should confirm the ban is actually removed.

A release order does not stop the Prosecutor from issuing a new arrest warrant if circumstances require it (Article 112).

What if the application is refused?

You can renew it when circumstances change, or challenge a decision that is appealable. A decision extending custody can be appealed within 24 hours (Articles 133 and 135).

Many people lose time by applying without guarantees or documents. We prepare the full application at once.
